It has been suggested that within a short time mobile traffic will overtake the traditional web based / broadband traffic. What does this mean? For example In a poll conducted by Harris fourty-two percent of the target audience between the ages of eighteen and thirty four agreed they would be interested in receiving a text from marketing departments. All mobile numbers are linked to an individual – whilst this is not always the case for web connections. You can target the advertising content as mobile advertising can be delivered to an audience which is fine tuned by age, location and device type. Again although these things are not precise it is possible to target individuals with a mix of attributes that will lend itself to either end of the marketing continuum.

A recent research report from Opus has analysed the results obtained in the mobile arena and the outcome was that marketing campaigns were far more effective in the mobile space than other forms of online marketing – with results that are 2 to ten times higher in terms of return on investment which is an amazing figure.


Potential 24 Hour Availability
Many individuals have their mobiles switched on all day every day. This means that mobile marketing can influence consumer’s at the most appropriate times if you have a sophisticated method of segmenting your target audience. A study carried out a short time ago suggested that seventy-five percent of individuals never leave home without their mobiles (CNBC)
